It’s easy to fall in love with Lucca<\/a>, which must be one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Tuscany. The Mediterranean Sea is only 40 minutes away by car. The nearest airport is in Pisa approx. 30 minutes away. If you holiday in Lucca, you can get a wonderful combination of the beautiful hinterland, charming medieval town and coast. Lucca city center is surrounded by an impressively high and well-preserved city wall. Within the city walls you will find a number of smaller fashion shops, interior design shops, specialty shops with leather goods, restaurants, cafes and bars. Lucca has a number of large piazzas and 99 churches. Walking in Lucca’s narrow cobbled streets is like walking on a movie set. You are transported several hundred years back in time, but at the same time the shops and bars are super modern. Although Lucca is well visited by tourists, the city is “owned” by the local “lucches”. They love their city and are often out with families and friends for shopping, walks, visits to playgrounds or to have an aperitivo. Normal city life is to see the butcher sticking his head out of the store and small talking with some celebrities who walk past, or strolling on the city wall (4.2 km long) along with the local cyclists or joggers. Bicycle rental is popular in Lucca. You can cycle on the city walls or take a longer walk up the hillsides around Lucca to visit one of the many vineyards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Lucca there is an opera concert every night all year round in the church of San Giovanni. There you can listen to music and song from, among others, the city’s big son, Giacomo Puccini, who has written pieces such as Madame Butterfly and Tosca. Every summer, a large music festival is held with well-known international artists. You can follow planned concerts at Lucca Summer Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near Lucca city center is the train station, and from there you can easily reach, for example, Florence and Pisa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
