Basilicata<\/h3>\n

The region has two separate coastlines separated by the region of Calabria located in the far south of Italy. Mainly agricultural landscape.<\/p>\n

Calabria<\/h3>\n

Located on the tip of the shoe in the boot country. Sparsely populated. Mountainous landscape. Long stretched coast. Borders on Sicily. Lots of olive trees.<\/p>\n

Campania<\/h3>\n

The Amalfi Coast, Capri and Ischia are popular resorts. Campania is the most densely populated region in Italy. The capital of the region is Naples. Here is the “sleeping” volcano Vesuvius, which last erupted in 1944. A major tourist attraction in this region is Pompeii.<\/p>\n

Pompeii was buried when the volcano Vesuvius erupted in the year 79, and was preserved under 6 meters of ash. Now it has been excavated and stands as a testimony to life in the Roman Empire.<\/p>\n

Puglia<\/h3>\n

This is the heel of the boot country.
\nThe regional capital is Bari. The area in Italy with the least mountains. This region produces mostly olive oil and wine. Interesting area, but as of today not so much visited by Norwegians due to lack of flights. Very interesting area. The town of Alberobello is famous for its “trulli” houses.<\/p>\n

Molise<\/h3>\n

Small region towards the east coast just north of the heel.<\/p>\n
